  Other Club Activities

  • Greenbelt Trail Runs: The members of the club run on the pristine trails of the Greenbelt several times during the winter months as well as organizing an occasional trip upstate to an organized trail race. The trail from Heckscher State Park through the Connetquot Preserve serves as one of our favorite runs and is the setting for our annual New Year's Day run which is followed by festivities (food and drink) in Heckscher Park.
  • Sunday Morning Runs: Club members get together for runs on Sunday mornings at the Old Waldbaum's Shopping Center in Smithtown on Route 111, leaving at 7:30 AM SHARP, for distances from 7 1/2 to 30+ miles.
  • Summer Speed Workouts: The club normally has regular speed sessions at the Connetquot High School track on Wednesday evenings May 30th thru. August 29th. Get there between 6:15 and 6:30. These are followed by a get together at a local pizza place where we help to earn our nickname of Bohemia "Snack and Track" Club.
  • Website: We are constantly improving and enhancing our website. Bookmark our site, www.btc.org for all the latest club information. All club activities and membership information can be obtained here as well as our race applications, results and the "Member of the Month".
  • Team Events: The club puts as many as 8 teams in the annual Ocean to Sound Relay and our Ladies Masters Team have been racking up the awards and titles all over the Northeast including consistent first place standings in the MAC Grand Prix. (We are also very proud of our excellent men's master team.)
  • Annual Holiday Party: Every December we have our Holiday party at a local hall where members and friends enjoy a complete meal, drinks, music and dancing to an excellent DJ. Not to be missed!!
  • Annual Blood Drive: Along with most other running and biking clubs in the metropolitan area, we actively support the L.I. Blood Services "Athletes for Life" Blood Drive.
  • BTC at the Races: Our colorful warm-ups and racing singlets can be seen at almost every race on Long Island and the City on any given weekend.

  Races

The BTC puts on the Elite Sports Medicine 8K (formerly the MacArthur Airport race), sponsored by Elite Sports Medicine, in the late Fall as well as the unique Uncle Dave's Buddy Run in the spring. Money raised at these races is donated to the BTC Memorial Scholarship Fund in the memory of our deceased members which provides awards to deserving members of the Connetquot High School track and/or cross country teams.

The Bohemia Track Club consists of approximately 160 members from all over Suffolk County- people of vastly diverse ages, interests, occupations, speed and abilities but all sharing a common interest in running and physical fitness through many activities.
