Membership News

January 2008

The BTC ended the year with another fun holiday party. Don’t miss this event next year! The date will be Sunday, Dec. 14th. Everyone seems to like the hall we use so we are going with the VFW Sayville Hall again. There are some photos from the party on our website, www.btc.org. Member Debbie Williams was kind enough to send us a lap robe to use in our party raffle. She also sent us some good news. Her daughter, Christine, just had a beautiful baby girl on Nov. 17th, weighing in at eight pounds, 5 1/2 ounces. Congratulations to the Williams family.

Fred Lipsky retired this past January but that doesn’t mean he is staying idle. He has finished his basement into a private personal training studio. It has a separate entrance, waiting room, full bathroom, office, and two rooms for teaching. The club wishes him the best in his new career as a fitness trainer. He also extends an invitation to club members to run in his neighborhood...it’s close to Westhampton Beach and Dune Rd. You can contact Fred at coprunr@optonline.net.

Our senior members continue to excel at the races. Joe Cordero told me of a 5K race at the Old Bethpage Restoration Village where Betty Horstmann, Joe Cordero, Larry Eastman, Mike Service, Mary Wagner, Kelli Stamm and Alexander Finger all placed either first or second. This race had a large field of 1450 runners.

Now this part of the news is very important! It is time for most of you to renew your membership. The dues for a single is $20 and $25 for a family membership. The check should be made out to the Bohemia Track Club and sent to me, Estella Clasen, 3 Cedar St., Bellport, NY 11713. The club has been very generous to our members. We had a free summer party at the Lizard Lounge, heroes for after the Monday night summer series runs, free pizza and soda for after the summer speed workouts and a reduced fee for our holiday party. Many members got a free pass to the holiday party by working some of the races the club times. Best of all, you will join a group of fun, caring, and supportive people who are more than just club members to me.
