Once again BTC is off and running, never let it be said that we were hindered by cold, icy weather!

First I would like to talk about the recent LITF Awards Brunch. Not only did we have a great attendance by BTC members (almost two full tables), but those that came to the Brunch got to see many of our members honored. After awhile BTC looked as if they were the only club around. First of all congratulation are in order for both Marie Louise Michelsohn and Joe Cordero. Marie Louise was honored as the Outstanding Master Track and Field Athlete and the Outstanding LDR Senior Athlete. Here fantastic running achievements both on the track and on the roads have been recognized by the club and now LITF. Joe Cordero also had a banner year last year and received the Senior LDR award.

Yours truly, me, received the President's Award for service to LITF and for being a little Crazy.

In the team area BTC could not be touched. Besides placing third in the Men's and Women's Grand Prix Masters, BTC women also placed third in the open division. BTC received the Soar Foot Trophy for the second year in a row, BTC earned the Masters Men and Masters Women team award at the LITF Indoor Championships, and BTC won both the men's and women's Senior Grand Prix Award. Finally, many of our members won individual awards for the age group grand prix; all in all a very successful showing. Joe Cordero and myself picked up most of the checks at the Brunch. The Tournament of Champions award winners were recognized but the checks were not available at the Brunch. Those checks will be mailed to the winners.

Now to the roads, BTC also had a great showing at the Latino Relays placing 2nd Women Masters and 2nd Men's Seniors.

Finally a reminder, the NEW 2004 Grand Prix is to start this weekend. Please make sure you have joined BTC for this year and joined LITF. If you have not, please sign up at the race on Saturday: Little Cow Harbor. Make sure when you sign up for LITF that you put BTC as the club name and our number is 125. If you are planning to run either Little Cow Harbor or the 15K Kings Park please give me a call 631-9798445 and leave a message: Simple---"HI, this is ------- age ----- and I plan on running the following grand prix races. Bye!"

I can not make the grand prix this Saturday, I will be in WI. doing the heptathlon Indoor Nationals; but Sue Nesbihal and Mike Service will be at the race. So please at registration check in so that we can step down our runners as needed so that we can field 4 teams: 2 master's teams (need 4 men and 4 women runners all over 40) and 2 open teams (need 5 men and 4 women all over 20). Remember runners over 40 can step down and run on an open team.

Don't forget to bring your green party hat to our next meeting, WE ARE HAVING A ST.PATTY's Day PARTY!

Membership News

Estella Clasen and Marge Smith have been busy scouting out halls for our holiday party next December. We have decided on the VFW hall in Sayville. The hall has a large dance floor and ample parking. We are cutting a few corners to keep the cost of the party down. We will have to provide our own linens and decorations. We are also bringing our own coffee urns for coffee and tea and we will get a cake from Costco. Most important of all, we will bring to the party some of the nicest people you will find anywhere.

The party will be Sunday, December 12th . We will have our regular DJ and we are now looking into places to cater the food for us.

Ross Moore is stepping down as treasurer of our club after many years of service. We thank him for all the work he has put into the BTC. Michael Service is taking over as our new treasurer.

Call in items for membership news to Estella at 286-1153. Do not be shy!
